You’ve just discovered that your home has been damaged, for example, by flood, fire, etc.  What should you do next?

What Should I Do in the Event of a Claim?

  • Remain calm.
  • Ensure that all persons involved are safe.
  • Call emergency services, if required.
  • Ensure that your property is safe. This point cannot be stressed enough! It is your property and therefore your responsibility.
  • Call CDRG promptly to alleviate any problems concerning the claim at 1.866.736.9222.  CDRG will find the CDRG certified member (restoration contractor) closest to you and they will be dispatched to start work at your house to mitigate the loss.

    The CDRG 2-4-24 Promise:

    The promise is as simple as 1-2-3 but in our case it's 2-4-24.  When you call in for the FNOL (First Notice of Loss) the clocks starts ticking.

    2 hrs: CDRG will have a certified member on site within 2 hours of the FNOL to assess the damage.  

    4 hrs: If emergencies and mitigation are required CDRG will have a certified team of technicians within 4 hours of the FNOL to mitigate the loss.

    24 hrs:  Once the loss is assessed and the mitigation process is initiated the CDRG certified team will send an assessment report within 24 hours of the FNOL to the property owner and claim representative.

  • Call your insurance company**

**Sometimes the loss is not significant enough to call your insurance company.  Consider paying for small losses out of your own pocket. Insurers take notice of customers who submit too many small claims. If someone breaks into your house and steals your new stereo, it might be better to go out and buy a new one at your own expense, particularly if you've had a claim or two within the past three years.
