CDRG two years after
ILSTV Interview
View Live Video: CLICK HERE In 2008, ILSTV featured the fledgling Canadian Disaster Restoration Group, or CDRG. We caught up with Simon Frigon, President and Founding Member of CDRG to see how the organization was doing.
Simon Frigon: The fact that we've attracted these restoration icons within the group over the last two years has helped CDRG attract more restoration firms that have that clout. Companies like Canstar have attracted a lot of good quality restoration firms in BC and will continue to do so over the next few years.
We are currently up to 150 service locations and we think in the next year we'll get up to 200.
The other thing that's been very positive in the group is the fact that we now have a COO. A person that has an insurance background and more importantly, is not self-serving.
Dave Tippett has been in position for just over 3 months now and already we're seeing some results from his meetings simply because he can attract the right type of insurance companies to come to the table and talk to us.
The industry is changing. It's going towards square footage. We've been proactive and formed a committee for performance drying. This committee is headed up by our founding CDRG members. These are 30-40 year old companies that have dedicated one person per company to figure out a way to adapt to this performance drying change in our industry. We're not against this concept but we realize that we need to come up with solutions and be accountable for our mitigation services. Right now all our members are still independent and they have dealings with their own insurance clients on a one-on-one basis. Now we need to tie that in with the national image of CDRG. Slowly but surely we are being considered as a national firm because of our capacities and our the quality of our members
With the help of our new platform we will find that cohesiveness that will take us to the next level. We're at that stage now and we're moving forward. It's very positive. |

Renewing CDRG members
We'd like to thank Spectrum Restorations from Lloydminster, N & H Contracting from Kamloops and Service One from Collingwood for renewing their membership with the CDRG. Who you would you rather send to your policyholders damaged property? A new franchisee that is just getting into disaster restoration or a CDRG certified team member that is 2 or 3 generation restorer. Experience has its privileges.

CDRG's strength as a coast to coast Canadian Network of Independent Restoration Specialists is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with 1726 restoration experts, an average of 18.8 years in business and 270 million in annual volume – it's safe to say our strength lies in our members. The rigorous CDRG selection process only chooses members which meet the highest industry standards. All of our 150+ locations are experienced and equipped to meet all challenges put before them. No job is too big or too small for CDRG members.
