The Hidden Meaning of Christmas...
The holiday season evokes a different meaning and purpose for everyone. Depending on your creed and cultural heritage, the celebration rituals and meaning will differ, but one thing is for sure it is a period of the year where we give into our guilty pleasures & indulge into all that the season brings. Although it has divine and holy origins, Christmas nowadays can also be seen as a feeding frenzy for our consumption-driven society. It has become an excuse to get people to open their wallets and purses at every turn.
It seems as though Christmas has been cheapened. It has become a measuring stick to evaluate the state of our open markets. Each year we compare how consumer spending and retail sales are either up or down. In some ways Christmas has become a commercial holiday driven by million-dollar marketing campaigns.
But underneath all the lights, decorations and hype, the season is really a festival of the heart. It's a period for selflessness, love, family, innocence, and peace! No matter who you are, there is a way in which your own heart can experience the true Christmas experience. Take the time to say "hello" to a stranger, help an elderly person with his or her bags, do something kind for your neighbour, or tell someone special that you love them. As simple as this seems, it goes a long way for the person on the receiving end.
We'd like to take this opportunity to THANK all the people who've contributed to our success in 2008. You're support and confidence is very much appreciated. CDRG members are a special breed of people and although we come from different parts of this great country of ours, there is a common thread that ties us all together - we take great pride in the work that we do.
We will be back in early 2009 - We wish you and yours a safe and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!!!
