CDRG At the 2010 OIAA Trade Show in Toronto February 3rd
CDRG and GTA member Respond Plus from Mississauga will be exhibiting at the 17th annual Claims Conference, which takes place February 3rd in Toronto. CDRG is sponsoring a seminar again this year. This year's the topic is Large-Scale High-Tech Catastrophic Losses, presented by Anthony Lai. Anthony Lai will review and address the many issues and special circumstances encountered with large, high-tech losses. Forward-thinking organizational methods useful in dealing with large catastrophes, and numerous obstacles that such losses often present, will also be covered, as well as structured approaches to evaluate the various options available to handle large-scale high technology losses.
Not only are catastrophic losses on the rise, but they are also the Achilles heal of insurance. The upside of this downturn is that we are forced to become more pro-active in finding solutions to become more efficient in our business processes. We've been looking at ways of becoming more preventative in our approach to catastrophic losses. In the coming weeks we will be presenting some of the tools and services that will help policyholders and insurance companies alike.
During our research on loss-prevention we've stumbled upon a recent study conducted by Boston, MA-based Insurance Institute for Property Loss Reduction. In it they proposed a project to prevent losses by assisting homeowners to retrofit their homes in order to prevent substantial earthquake or water damage. Another proposal brought forward was the option to offer incentives to local governments for the reinforcement of the building codes and building code compliance, thus reducing catastrophe losses.
We invite you to come by the Respond Plus booth (917) during this year's claims conference.
