What's in the name?

Until recently our market was at a local level, and naturally so. Relationships were made and nurtured between good old fashioned handshakes, or a round of golf. But times have changed. We are now intricately linked to larger markets and broader visions. Whether we like it or not we are now part of a global economy.

The playing field has been redefined by new regulations, economic pressures and technology. We often see mom & pop shops struggling to meet the industries new demands and consequently falling short. It’s understandable that they would be riddled with inefficiencies. These same inefficiencies that erode the bottom line cause the loss of precious market shares to larger networks and franchise systems that have embraced this change. In today's economic landscape, the reality is networking. There is undoubtedly strength in numbers, and CDRG promises to be the catalyst in this endeavour

It's an uphill battle, to say the least, for us independents. More than ever we need a voice, a voice the CDRG made its mission to be 5 years ago. Let's face it, it’s one thing being the best restorer in your town, but without a voice you’re going nowhere. The Canadian Disaster Restoration Group has become the channel for independent restorers who've come together to effectively communicate with each other and the insurance companies. Since its inception, CDRG has worked hard to add value and innovation to its national network. It's a pretty simple concept in theory, but in practice it has been challenging to get members to work together.

In most cases, our members are veteran business owners who have been in the habit of doing things their own way, mistrusting competitors, or the concept of the group. They also fear losing control of their businesses under a big organization, and mostly fear losing their hard earned identity and reputation. But for those who see the big picture, CDRG has been an affordable springboard toward a whole new range of opportunities. Far from being a threat to the few remaining independents, pooling resources and leveraging the power of a national network can only bring more opportunity and cost savings to remain competitive both in terms of quality & quantity.

It's a very competitive marketplace and with numerous brands to choose from, brand identity and awareness is the common denominator that sets you apart. Ultimately, it is the brand that influences the decision, that's because for consumers, the brand equals the promise of quality, professionalism and trust.
